The lowly peasant soldier and the highborn knight share a common destiny, as both are warriors who live by the sword and die by the sword. Not every fighter enjoys their trade, but all must respect it, for it is a duty as old as time.
Fighters are tough weapon specialists who excel in close combat tactics. They are the most capable in a melee fight of all the classes, and can take the most punishment before falling. An adventuring party without fighters is doomed, for they provide critical protection to the less heavily armored members of the group.
Hit Dice: Fighters gain +1d10 hit die per level.
Restrictions: None. Fighters can wield any weapon, use shields, and wear any armor.
Alignment: Fighters can be of any alignment. By far, most are neutral mercenaries who adventure for profit and personal power. Chaotic fighters may be merciless raiders or rampaging wild men, or perhaps willing followers of a malevolent organization or tyrannical leader. A lawful fighter may be a noble knight or member of an esteemed order of oath-sworn swordsmen dedicated to protecting the innocent.

Special Features
Bonus Attacks: If the fighter defeats an enemy in combat, they immediately gain another attack. They may gain bonus attacks in this way up to their level.
Large Monsters: When a fighter wielding a two-handed weapon hits an enemy that is larger than a human and rolls the highest possible result on the damage die, the damage die is rolled again and the new result is added as extra damage. This can repeat if the maximum result is rolled again. The fighter can potentially gain a number of bonus damage dice in succession up to their level on a single attack.
Retainers: If a fighter controls a stronghold, at 9th level and each level thereafter, the stronghold attracts 1d6x10 heavy cavalry, 1d6x10 mounted crossbowmen, and 1d6x10 heavy infantry that serve as loyal retainers. The fighter can control a domain and may collect taxes equal to 1 gp per resident per month.
